November 1942 (Approximate)

wrote back & said they would doing everything within their power to find anything out so we are all praying & hoping.  I was very fortunate because I belonged to the same division but was transferred to another corps about three months before they went across to Malay, so my luck is holding.

            Johny Boyle was married in September & I should have been best man but I couldn't get leave he is settling down to it fine.  I had a bit of luck as I was sent up to Scotland for a few day & I went & stopped with the McCauley’s.  Annie was married to a chap from Glascow & Old Mick taken it sore to heart as he wouldn’t give her away so Pat had to may be  he thought she was not old enough yet to take the plunge.

            I am writing this in hospital as I have been in hear one month with a septic ear. but I am getting on swell an its nearly better a last.
